Good quality, smooth and delicate flavor, but a bit expensive I think

I like a good dragon well tea and have been spoiled by several coworkers that visit China and bring back some excellent samples for me to try. Lung ching, or long jing, is a famous green tea from China and is named after the Dragon’s Well landmark in the West Lake area of the Zhejiang Province (credit to Arbor Teas.

This tea, like all other dragon well teas, is a flatter leafy looking tea that is mainly green in color (ranging from a lighter green to deeper greens) and sometimes has hints yellows or gold. This particular tea has some good lighter green colors to it and has a nice smooth pleasant aroma. Tghe tea leaves come packaged in a vacuum sealed foil bag that is then inside a cardboard tube. Also in the tube is a clamp to seal the foil back after you open it.

I steeped this tea for 30-60 seconds at first and ended up with a very light yellow tea with soft and mild flavors. I then increased my time to a few minutes for the second steep and was rewarded with a richer color and flavor to the tea that was more to what I was expecting. To be fair, my first time making this tea, I could have used more leaves but didn’t due to trying a smaller cup. After that, I learned to use more leaves and a slightly longer steep time as this tea seems to need a little more time to open up and really adding presence and body to your tea. For water, I used my instant hot water tap at fist which gives me anywhere from 180-190 degree water and it turned out great (not bitter, not dry, but just right). The tea has some nice sweeter vegetal tones with a hint of grassiness and overall a lighter flavor. I like that you can easily change the steep time to get more or less flavor to make it as light or “bold” as you’d like, and the tea itself seems to be relatively forgiving and not picky about the steep.

Overall, this is a good dragon well tea. I have had better, but I’m guessing you’d be hard pressed to find any of those on Amazon as they mostly came directly from China when my coworkers would visit family. That said, this is still a good dragon well tea, albeit a bit expensive and you can likely spend half to a third of this price and get a suitably enjoyable tea, although maybe not this smooth or delicate in flavor.

Great Quality Organic Longjing Tea but expensive

I was excited to try this authentic Chinese Dragon Well loose leaf tea, and it did not disappoint.

    Pros:

The tea has a fresh and enjoyable.
The buds are hand-picked, which is evident in the quality of the tea leaves.
    It’s USDA certified organic

    Cons:

The price point is a bit higher than other teas on the market.
The tea can be a bit difficult to brew at first, as the water temperature needs to be just right to bring out the best flavor.
The package is not resealable, so you’ll need to transfer the tea to an airtight container to keep it fresh.

Overall, I would highly recommend the EFOOFAN USDA Certified Organic Longjing Tea to any tea lover looking for a high-quality, flavorful tea. Just be sure to take the time to brew the tea correctly and store it properly to keep it fresh.

    Nice green tea

it is very nice green tea although it took 20 days for final deliver. Why not setup a warehouse in US?

  5. Gerry O’Brien (zweryfikowany)

    Good!

    Very good green tea! Recommend!

    Great tea…but pricey

I’m not a big tea drinker but I do enjoy a cup every now and then. I visited China a number of years ago and got to see a tea production/farm area during my visit so I now have a better appreciation for what goes on with the tea industry.

This tea reminded me of the green tea I had in China. It was pretty expensive over there when I visited and this stuff is just as expensive from Amazon! Great tea overall, but I’ll leave it to a more discerning palate if it’s worth the cost.

Premium Tea With A Premium Price

Longjing tea, which translates to Dragon Well tea, is a variety of pan-roasted green tea from the area of Longjing Village in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China. It is produced mostly by hand and renowned for its high quality. Longjing tea is known as one of China’s most prestigious teas.

If you are familiar with Longjing tea, you will know that it is a high quality tea with a premium price. Although this brand is more expensive, I think you will notice the difference between the first grade dragon well tea and other types of dragon well. The prices depend on the variety of tea you are buying. Longjing is divided into six grades: Superior and then 1 down to 5. I couldn’t find anything on the grading, but the price should indicate high quality. This bag had well preserved leaves that were not crushed, and it had a rich, earthy aroma. The tea has a sort of nutty sweet taste, that is very smooth if it is brewed correctly. The bag was well sealed and came with a little plastic clip to keep the bag fresh. If you have been on the lookout for an authentic Dragon Well tea, your search might end here.

    Perfect and delicious

This green tea is very good and enjoyable. The tea leaves show that they were picked with care as they are whole pieces, are of the same size, and are in good condition.

The product came sealed and stamped with the expiration date on both the outside and inside of the tea container. The tea leaves were wrapped in a thick foil bag and a sturdy plastic clip to seal it was provided. (Note: It will help to fold the bag lengthwise for the clip to be useful.)

I scooped about 2 teaspoons onto a tea bag, used about 175ºF hot water, and it brought out all the tea goodness. This tea is smooth, slightly fragrant, and very enjoyable. Lastly, there was no hint of bitterness at all. If you are a green tea enthusiast, you will like this.

  9. Chris D (zweryfikowany)

    Mild and slightly earthy

The instructions for this tea (only on the item page, not the container) are for a classic Chinese presentation. I prefer my tea Lombard Street style (long, wet, steep), so infused a sloppy teaspoon of the leaves (about a gram) in about 14 ounces of 175-degree water for 2 minutes.

The tea is very mild, with no bitterness, and a nice grassy flavor. If you look hard you can find some sourness. The nose is earthy, and the infusion is a straw yellow. The complexity is impressive.

Overall, this is a classic dragonwell.

    Good tasting tea

I really like this tea – good flavor.

  11. Ben Emerson (zweryfikowany)

    Delicate flavor

This review is for “USDA Certified Organic Longjing Tea”. This tea is a pretty green color with flat leaves. I brewed it in a tea strainer for a couple of minutes. I didn’t check the temperature of the water I used. I added some sweetener (which I do with all the hot beverages I drink). The tea has a delicate but delicious flavor. There’s a hint of a bitter aftertaste that I associate with tea in general. I am not a tea aficionado so I don’t feel qualified to judge the nuances of this tea vs. other green teas. I like this tea but, given the high price-point, I suspect it’s wasted on my un-educated taste buds.

  12. Jody b (zweryfikowany)

    Not what I expected.

My wife and I enjoy sitting down and talking and having a cup of green tea so we opted to try this. I’m not gonna say the flavor is bad, but was definitely not like any other tea we have had. Now this is probably because where they drink this the most is on the other side of the world and things taste different there. I’m gonna say the flavor was similar to what you might get by steeping fairly fresh sweet fescue hay. Now this stuff is full of vitamins and antioxidants and such, probably much more than the tea we are accustomed to in America. So that’s a positive thing. We did use more than our share of natural honey but we did sip it down as usual. And who knows the flavor may grow on you over time.

    Flavorful green tea

This EFOOFAN Loose Leaf Dragon Well Green Tea came in a nice can container and was securely sealed in a bag inside it. There was a clip included, which helps to keep the tea fresh long in the open bag.
The container contains on it all the information needed, like the best before date, nutrition facts, and ingredients. I found the brewing instruction in the description to the item.
The taste is tender and even, with fresh and brisk aroma.

  14. Andrei Costin (zweryfikowany)

One of the most subtle-flavored traditional Chinese green tea

One of the most subtle-flavored traditional Chinese green tea. If your taste has been conditioned by stronger tea varieties such as various black teas, flower-scent-infused teas such as jasmine teas, Longjing green tea might, at least initially, appear to be too plain and subtle to you, but it is really its essential uniqueness. It is the purest tea flavor from the most freshly-grown young leaves of Camellia sinensis plants and using the most authentic preparation procedure in one of top traditional green-tea-growing area with a long and rich history of tea culture.

  15. Nicole Guttmann (zweryfikowany)

    Reliability and Delivery on time.

Product is good. The arrival was too late. Shipping should be improved.

  18. Danielle Caf (zweryfikowany)

Taste good. But it’s not from grain rain

It tastes good. It is longing, but it’s not before ming qian. Still worth buying as it’s not much more expensive than buying in china

  19. Lydia Lennox (zweryfikowany)

    good quality, like it

    Like it. thanks
