Matcha originated in China, dating back to the Song Dynasty and its birthplace is Linan of Hangzhou. Hangzhou is also the distribution center of Japanese tea today. EFOOFAN exports our tea to Japan both Matcha and other japanese teas like Sencha, Gyokuro etc.

No return , no sweetener. Not easy on the tounge
Not barista blend. No sweetener and has a very very strong grass taste and hard to stir in. I usually go with other reputable brands ie; jade leaf but they were all sold out. Should have read the reviews. I’ll keep it , or give it awa because you can’t return it.

Good for the Price
This matcha tea is pretty good, though not high-end ceremonial. It had a dirt taste when I tasted just the tea and water, but after adding milk and a splash of sugar free syrup it was decent. Currently the price is $14.99 with a 50% off coupon for the 30 gram can. This is significantly cheaper than the best tasting matchas I’ve tried, so I would say it’s probably about what I’d expect for the price.

I can definitely taste (and see) the difference between this and my cheap bulk matcha. I am not a matcha connoisseur so I won’t make a claim on whether or not I feel this is truly ceremonial grade, but by color and lack of bitterness alone I know it is at the very least a good grade. I tried it both totally plain as well as with milk and sugar and it is delightful either way.
The can is made of a nice thick metal and seems to be air tight, but I did notice that if it’s tilted too much powder will pool up in the recessed ring under the cap and it’s hard to get it out without wasting some of it. I recommend that if you take it somewhere (as I did) to try to keep it upright.
The fact that the listing has a picture with information on not only caffeine content but also Catechin, EGCG, and L-Theanine content is admirable and more companies should do the same. Similarly, I definitely appreciate the preservative-free, BPA-free, and organic descriptors. It is worth noting that unlike some products which are just described as “organic” and may not be fully organic nor certified, this product specifies that it is 100% PURE USDA cerified organic. “Radiation-free” was not something I was concerned about (hopefully I shouldn’t be?), but it is certainly nice to know! Well, to be fair I don’t exactly “know”, but that would sure be a strange thing to make up. Anyway, unfortunately as is the case with many companies I am unable to find information about the source of the product (other than “China”), but at least they list their distributor’s address on the can.

This is excellent green mocha grade that I will be having every morning instead of black tea. The aroma is what I like the most and the taste is so good better than normal green tea. If you love to drink gea tea but not the bitterness, then I would recommend this smooth tasting tea.

Refreshing Matcha in a small can
I purchase this matcha after a friend of mine recommended it. When received I was surprised it’s a tiny can. Upon trying it for the first time, it’s not as bitter as others I tried before. I added a small spoon in a tea cup with hot water mixing with the spoon ( I don’t have a whisk ) but it does the job, afterwards I added ice to my drink to make it cold it’s really refreshing especially on a hot day. I plan to make this daily and put in my water jug for my day out.

I’m new to Matcha tea, and this one is a stand out for me. It is bright in every way. The taste is a bright, non bitter herbal flavor with a beautiful bright green color. The aroma is like fresh cut grass with a very mild floral note added. The aroma and flavor are very satisfying. This tea is less bitter than others I’ve tried, and I’ll probably use this tea powder just for the cup of tea rather than adding it to other things like smoothies. It’s too good by itself to mix into other things, I’ll use my lesser quality Matchas for that purpose. I’m very happy with the quality and value of this ceremonial tea.

This review is for “EFOOFAN Organic Premium Culinary Grade Matcha Tea, (4oz/113g), USDA Certified First Harvest” – This matcha slides through the sifter with just a little shake. It does not stick to the sifter or knife I leveled off with. It is a nice color of green, not at all yellow. The flavor is grassy, ever so slightly bitter. I think this settles quickly, as it starts off with a very clean, clear mouthfeel and finishes creamy, not quite chalky. I appreciate the can that it comes in. The lip does not have a deep groove so it is easy to shake any stray matcha back into the can. The lid comes off easy so you don’t disturb the matcha while opening it. I really enjoy this matcha and greatly appreciate the opportunity to try it!

Nice quality matcha
I make this matcha with a half a teaspoon of powder, a little bit of hot water, shake it up, and then add ice for a chilled drink.
The matcha quality comes through. It’s not overly grassy but it’s also has a nice vegetal taste. Is a good morning boost that’s a good alternative to coffee.

Nice little tin of matcha powder
This is a small tin of pretty potent matcha powder. It has multiple uses. I’ve made a latte with it and I noticed it wasn’t as bitter as other’s I’ve tried. It mostly dissolved but there was some residue at the bottom. I also made a face mask with 1 tsp matcha powder and 1/2 tsp raw honey. You can also use aloe vera gel or coconut oil.
